Understanding the Core of ECO4
ECO4 is a government-led initiative designed to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions by improving the energy efficiency of the UK's housing stock. Unlike previous iterations, ECO4 takes a 'whole house' approach. This means instead of single upgrades, it aims to deliver a package of improvements to significantly boost your home's EPC rating.
Who is it for?
The scheme primarily targets low-income households and those with the least energy-efficient homes (EPC rating D-G). If you receive income-based benefits, you are very likely to qualify.
What Measures Are Included?
ECO4 covers a wide range of improvements, including:
- Insulation: Cavity wall, solid wall, loft, and underfloor insulation.
- Heating: Upgrades to modern, efficient boilers and installation of air source heat pumps.
- Renewables: Installation of solar panels.
The goal is to create a comprehensive package that makes a real, lasting difference to your energy bills and comfort.
