Free Room-in-Roof Insulation

Transform your attic into a warm, energy-efficient living space with a 100% free government grant.

What is Room-in-Roof Insulation?

Room-in-roof insulation is designed for homes with an attic or loft that has been converted into a living space. The process involves adding high-quality insulation boards to the sloping walls and ceiling of the room, creating a thermal barrier that significantly reduces heat loss.

Up to 25% of your home's heat can escape through an uninsulated roof, making this one of the most effective ways to improve your property's energy efficiency, lower your bills, and create a more comfortable home.

A Real-Life Success Story

The drive to make grants accessible is personal for us. Our own CTO, Luke, recently qualified for free room-in-roof insulation himself through the LA Flex scheme. He wasn't on benefits and assumed he wouldn't be eligible, but his property's EPC rating and local council's criteria meant he qualified.

This firsthand experience fuels our mission to ensure every eligible person can access these grants, cutting through the jargon and confusion. We believe in this scheme because we've seen its benefits up close.

Frequently Asked Questions

Room in roof insulation refers to the process of adding insulation to the ceilings and walls of rooms located directly under the roof, often in loft conversions. It's a way to improve energy efficiency by preventing heat from escaping through the roof, which can be a significant source of heat loss.

Yes, this type of insulation helps to keep the room warmer in winter and potentially cooler in summer, making the space more comfortable and reducing energy bills.

We fit rigid insulation boards or sprayed foam between and over the rafters of a sloping roof, followed by plasterboard for a finished surface and then plastered, also involving insulating flat ceilings and any remaining loft space with standard loft insulation methods. Taking between 2-5 days to install.

A room in roof is generally a room with a fixed staircase up to it, have a source of natural light (skylight or window). It will also generally be heated in some way and have a finish where you cannot see the roof already, but not always.

There may be a slight reduction in head height, especially if insulation is added to the rafter level, but customers often find the improved comfort and energy efficiency to be more significant, and it's worth the trade for losing a few mm from the room height.
